{Pet Peeves} Cars

I have several pet peeves when it comes to cars. And not to say I don’t drive myself crazy as a a driver (haha drive, driver…) but sometimes I truly think people are nuts. Like are you really that dumb?! (‘You are so dumb. You are really dumb. For real. Homeboy.‘)

This is a short list of things that really make me look at you and go seriously?

1. Stickers on car windows.

I’ve been trying to find a picture for weeks of this! This one is just a scratch in the surface of how bad it can get…

Okay, I understand a kid getting a sticker and putting it on the window once…

“Oops sorry mom! I didn’t mean to be so foolish and but a sticker on the window that will require you about an hour of scrubbing to remove. But don’t be mad, I’ll never do it again and hey I’m just a kid! (maybe next time MOM you shouldn’t give me any stickers!)”

I shouldn’t judge  since I am not a parent I really don’t know where the stickers are coming from-probably your kid stole it or got it at the dentist or or something and you had nothing to do with it. So…

Question: When do you continually let them put more on there after the first sticker!!! I’ve seen much worse then this photo evidence. Baffles me.

2. Cars with stuff on the dash. Especially stuffed animals. Particularly the Beanie Baby variety.

I have no words.

3.  The brake-no-you-go-brake-no-you-go-no-you-no-you-brake. When at an intersection go if you are going to go, go and don’t go if you’re not. Instead of the wave ‘no, you go’ ‘no I’m going’ brake dance. JUST GOOOOOOO!!!! Hit my car I don’t care just stop trying to be polite by giving me a wave and then be a jerk and try to go. Gesh, the nerve.

4. People who drive crappy cars and don’t have the respect to give it a nickname. My car is so awesome it has evolved from the Cap’n Wagon to the Peppermint Patty Wagon. She is still chuggin’ along too…good ‘ole Patty! (I’d post a picture, but she’s shy). If you need help with a nickname I’ve coined many a names for friends cars-Lil Pecker Nose for example is a royal name if I do say so myself.

5. And just to keep it real…I’m someone else’s pet peeve (BRAD) because I constantly will not make a left on red. Sorry and I am working on it.

What drives you nuts about drivers or cars???

{Recipes}: Salt+Sugar Can’t Be Beat

YUM. YUM. YUM. DELISH.

You ever miss being a kid? Me too. But sometimes my adult taste still kicks in and I want my classic treats with a twist.

How about Salted Browned Butter Rice Krispy Treats? I had you at How, right?

I made these delicious bites a long time ago and they were so simple and so much better than the original (HOW CAN THAT BE?!). I had a craving to bake something simple last night and of course I got them from Smitten Kitchen.

Salted Browned Butter Rice Crispy Treats

  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • 1 bag mini marshmallows
  • 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt (I used my fancy Fluer De Sel salt I use for my caramels)
  • 6 cups Rice Crispy Cereal (I used the store brand-GASP!)
  • Optional: Milk-for all the leftover cereal

Coat a 13×9 pan with baking spray. Get a giant pot and on medium-low heat melt the fatty butter using a HEAT proof spatula. DO NOT WALK AWAY. Keep heating the butter-it will foam and eventually start to turn brown and smell nutty-about 3 min or so I’d say once the butter has melted.

Turn the heat off and add the bag of marshmallows and stir till melted and smooth. I used a 10.5 oz bag even the the original recipe calls for 10 oz, more marshmallows isn’t a bad thing!

Add the cereal and salt and mix the whole thing up. Put into the pan and spread with the spatula. Let it cool slightly and take a sample-so good when its all warm and gooey! Once cool, cut into small squares and eat! Or bring to the office and share!

YUM!

{The List} Trying Something New

The past few weekends Brad and I’s date nights have included a movie theater. This weekend I wanted to do something new. No more popcorn and butt kicking flicks.

I also happened to check off a bucket list item like #73: Try a new type of food.

Our adventure started with me purchasing a deal a while back on tippr.com for a restaurant called Kaya (which had been recommended by a friend) which is a Korean BBQ place.

Now, I love Asian food so I figured we’d be good and I also knew this place was expensive so the deal helped pay for the trying something new part…

There was only two of us and we ordered the Combo 1 (recommended for 3 people-but we wanted to try a bunch of stuff to see what we like) which included:

  • Marinated short rib
  • Marinated sirloin
  • Beef Brisket
  • Black Pork Belly
  • Bean Paste Stew
  • and drinks, and salad, and steamed egg, and sides (which he said was the fries to our burger!)

So much food…so much meat. We ate and ate and had so much fun cooking the meat on our own grill!

Do you see all that meat?! WOW! But it was so delish we devoured it.

Although, extremely pricey for a combo we would definitely eat here again! The staff was so helpful and the quality of the meat was great. Yay! I tried something new and I LIKED IT!

Cooking Light

For Christmas this year I got a year subscription to Cooking Light for my dad. And last week I reaped the benefits!

I had a work meeting nearby his house and wanted to stop by for dinner and he had created a feast from menus in the most recent issue! So fancy with the fine china too! I’m so lucky! We had ice water-with lemon, homemade Gruner Veltliner wine, bread, Tuna and White Bean Salad

My dad’s growing his march madness mustache. The salad was awesome! So many yummy ingredients and good for you too! Then the most amazing entrée ever…

Linguine with Clams and Fresh Herbs! The sun was shining and the food was delish! I highly recommend these recipes for the next sunny day you can eat on the back patio with good friends…and hey it’s Cooking Light so eat as much as you want!

A Teaser

Here’s a preview of what is to come tonight…

I’m going out for my Bingo Birthday Party!!! My actual birthday is next week on April 2nd, but tonight we celebrate with bingo and at a dive bar!!

I’ll share this champagne cupcake recipe later, but here’s one to tease/torment you with!!

Yay to birthday parties, sun, and hopefully winning some money!!! Off to get a mani/pedi!

Spring is Here! (Kinda…)

On Sunday the sun was shining! Today it is not. But I bought a beautiful potted yellow tulip!

I love Seattle on days like this. It started with brunch with Kelly and Heidi at the amazing Portage Bay Cafe.

Then we went to a the best viewpoint in Seattle…two blocks from my house!

From Kerry Park you can see Mount Rainer, the Space Needle, and the Olympics. It is gorgeous!

Then Heidi and I headed for a walk to Menchie’s for some FRO YO!

Sweet spoons! Then I told Heidi I had a surprise adventure…To the swings! As we were swinging like crazy elementary kids, Heidi pointed to a tree and quoted Katy Perry. “Do you ever feel like a plastic bag, drifting through the wind wanting to start again?”

There’s a plastic bag stuck in the top of that tree…Heidi you are hilarious!

Oh Spring. How I love thee…

CH 4 Life

Saturday night was filled with great food and friends! We had our 4 year Community Health (CH) reunion at my place…4 YEARS! It’s gone by so fast.

Unfortunately, only a select few made it out of the 27 of us that graduated from the program. I also didn’t take any photos. These woman are amazing and make me laugh for hours!

For the potluck I made way too much pasta salad to last me until next week. I also made pitcher cocktails so that I wouldn’t have to be making mixed drinks all night.

I’ll call it…
